Ruby Perman is proving TikTok is about more than just viral dance videos. She is a graphic designer turned food stylist who is creating outfits for celebrities out of food. During the pandemic, she has accumulated over 700k followers and more than 12 million likes on TikTok. We warn you when we say these videos are addicting.

Ruby Perman

Posting on TikTok and Instagram, Ruby Perman is styling outfits for many big name celebrities and entrepreneurs, such as Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon. She starts off by using her signature white plate and then grabs everyday food items, like apples, sriracha sauce, and even Fruit Rollups to create her designs. Recently, she designed a stunning dress for Golden Globe winner Anya Taylor-Joy solely out of green sprinkles.

Perman says she wanted to find a creative outlet to help her pass the days during quarantine. So, she put a picture of herself on a white plate and made a mango dress for herself. She then decided to create a TikTok account and, of course, her first post went viral. The first dress she designed was a pomegranate dress in honor of Jennifer Lawrence’s wedding to husband Cooke Maroney.

Food Fashion

Prior to creating her food fashion videos, Perman posted many stylized food posts, such as offering tips on how to turn a beefsteak tomato into a basket for a dinner party.

Now due to her skyrocketing fame, Perman has appeared on several news outlets like Good Morning America. Some celebrities like Celine Dion and Laura Dern have even reached out to her excitedly to repost her designs on social media. Upon being asked why she believes her posts are so successful, Perman says she believes food brings people closer together and she hopes her posts brighten people’s days. If social media is any indication, her mission certainly seems to be working.
