Editorial Policy

Last updated: April 21, 2026.

GREY Journal covers entrepreneurship, culture, lifestyle, and events for a global audience of founders, creators, and the curious. Our credibility rests on the choices we make about what to publish, how we verify it, and how we correct the record when we fall short. This page explains those choices.

1. Our Mission

We tell the stories of people building things — companies, culture, careers, lives — and the ideas, trends, and conditions that shape their work. We aim to be accurate, fair, and useful, and to be interesting while we’re at it.

2. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions at GREY Journal are made by our editorial team and are independent of our advertisers, sponsors, partners, and investors. Advertisers have no right of review before publication. Sponsored content is clearly and conspicuously labeled as such; see section 9.

No writer, editor, or contributor may accept gifts, trips, or financial consideration from the subjects of their reporting. Exceptions — such as review units returned after testing — must be disclosed in the article.

3. Accuracy and Fact-Checking

Every article at GREY Journal is reviewed by an editor before publication. We verify names, numbers, dates, titles, and quotes against primary sources where possible: company filings, official statements, direct interviews, government records, and reputable wire services. When a fact is contested or comes from a single source, we say so in the article.

Net-worth estimates, revenue figures, and audience counts are inherently imprecise. We cite the methodology behind the number where possible (for example, Forbes’s annual estimate, SEC filings, or a public earnings disclosure), and we update figures when authoritative new data is available.

4. Sourcing and Attribution

We prefer on-the-record sources and direct quotes. When we rely on reporting from another outlet, we credit and link to the original. Direct quotations are used verbatim; minor cleanup of spoken disfluencies (“um,” “you know”) is permissible so long as the speaker’s meaning is preserved. We do not invent quotes or combine separate statements into a single quotation.

We use anonymous sources only when the information is newsworthy, cannot reasonably be obtained otherwise, and the source has a legitimate reason to fear retaliation or harm. Anonymity is granted by an editor, not promised unilaterally by a writer.

5. Transparency and Disclosures

GREY Journal writers disclose relevant financial interests, personal relationships, and prior professional ties to the subjects of their reporting. If a disclosure belongs in an article, it appears at the top or bottom of the piece, not buried.

Product review articles disclose whether the product was purchased at retail, supplied by the manufacturer, or retained after testing. Affiliate links, where used, are disclosed in the article or a site-wide notice.

6. Use of AI Tools

GREY Journal uses AI-assisted tools in parts of our workflow — for research summarization, draft outlines, headline testing, and the operations pipeline that moves stories from our editorial system to the site. Every published article is reviewed and edited by a human editor who is accountable for its accuracy, framing, and tone.

We do not publish fabricated quotes, fabricated sources, or AI-generated images that purport to depict real events or real people without labeling them as illustrations. AI-generated imagery used for illustrative purposes is labeled in the caption.

7. Diversity, Representation, and Fairness

We cover a global audience and believe our reporting is stronger when our sources, subjects, and contributors reflect that audience. We work to seek out voices that are underrepresented in mainstream business and culture coverage, and to avoid reinforcing stereotypes. Subjects of critical reporting are given a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication.

8. User-Generated Content

Comments, community submissions, and contributor posts are moderated. We remove content that is abusive, threatening, hateful, defamatory, spam, or violates applicable law. Contributors who publish on GREY Journal are expected to follow this editorial policy.

9. Advertising and Sponsored Content

Advertising and sponsored content are labeled as such and visually distinguished from editorial content. Sponsored posts carry a “Sponsored” or “Paid Partner Content” designation and disclose the sponsoring entity. The GREY Journal editorial team does not write sponsored content; when sponsors collaborate on a post, it is produced separately from our newsroom and clearly marked.

10. Corrections and Updates

When we get something wrong, we correct it. Our Corrections Policy explains what we update, how quickly, and how to request a correction. Substantive updates to a story after publication are noted with a dated editor’s note.

11. Contact

Questions about our editorial standards, tips, or corrections requests should be directed to care@greyjournal.net. Press and partnership inquiries should go through our contact page.
