Responsive Drip Irrigation (RDI) has created a watering system that “talks” to plants. This communication between the system and the plants lets the system know when the plants need water, effectively cutting water usage by 30-50%.

RDI is a watering system that, according to RDI, is “the world’s first water delivery system that uses organic chemistry to allow each and every plant to self-regulate its own water and nutrient delivery. A microporous tube that responds directly to root signals, releasing water and nutrients only when the plant calls for it.”

RDI has the ability to reduce water usage in any system, including lawns and farming. RDI’s goal is to help in the fight against climate change.

What are your thoughts on the impact RDI’s irrigation system can have on our environment? Let us know down in the comments.
