We know you’re already shelling out big bucks to see the hottest debut on the Great White Way (and then dropping some more cash on drinks after), so here’s our list of affordable dining options to spare you some pocket change before the show goes on.
Lillie’s Victorian Establishment
Lillie’s is a well-known destination near Times Square with over-the-top decor, especially around the holidays; but, not everyone knows about the lunch specials the grandiose locale offers. For only $16, diners can get a wine or beer as well as their pick from the lunch menu, which includes items like the scrumptious Avocado BLT or the vegetarian-friendly Southwestern Farro Bowl. The special runs Monday through Friday, making it a perfect pick before a Wednesday matinee.

Briciola

Another spot with a lunch bargain is Briciola. The lively wine bar offers a wine and pasta combo for $18 during lunch, but don’t fret if you need to eat later. Pastas are only $16 all day, and the Fettuccine ai Funghi with wild mushrooms and truffle oil is a crowd favorite. The place gets crowded, so come early and be prepared to share your elbow room.

Burger & Lobster
If you’re craving a little (or a lot of) something from the land and the sea, then Burger & Lobster just might be your best bet. For $35, the Combo for 1 comes with a six-ounce burger, a one-pound lobster, a salad AND tasty French fries. This is more than enough food to make sure your stomach won’t start growling before (spoiler alert) Simba and Scar have their showdown at Pride Rock.

BarBacon
If you’re looking for some reasonably-priced libations to wash down your meal, then BarBacon is a good pick. For weekday Happy Hour, the restaurant has beers for $5 and well drinks or sangria for $6. Up the ante with some Chipotle Pork Belly Tacos or Kentucky Fried Bacon Bites (YOLO) for $16.

Go! Go! Curry!
If you’re willing to go (really) casual, then Go! Go! Curry! is an excellent little Japanese curry counter where you can grab a quick bite. “Five” is pronounced “go” in Japanese, and the restaurant is named for Hideki Matsui, whose jersey number was 55. For around $10, you can get the little restaurant’s most popular dish, Katsu Curry, a breaded pork or chicken cutlet served with shredded cabbage and Japanese curry over rice. If you’re looking for quick and delicious, it checks both boxes.
