CoreWeave files for IPO amidst staggering revenue growth

Coreweave

CoreWeave, a fast-growing cloud provider specializing in AI infrastructure, has officially filed for its much-anticipated IPO on Nasdaq. The New Jersey-based company, founded eight years ago, reported a staggering $1.9 billion in revenue for 2024—an explosive 737% increase from the previous year.

Rapid Growth, But at a Cost

Despite its meteoric rise, CoreWeave has also seen its losses grow. The company reported a net loss of $863 million last year, marking a 45% increase. CoreWeave attributes this financial strain to aggressive investments designed to capitalize on the surging demand for AI cloud services.

IPO Valuation and Market Impact

While CoreWeave has not disclosed the exact amount it hopes to raise, reports suggest the company could seek around $4 billion, potentially valuing it at $35 billion. If successful, this IPO could breathe new life into the U.S. tech sector, marking one of the first major public offerings from a high-growth unicorn in recent months.

Strong Financial Backing and Key Investors

Even before going public, CoreWeave has amassed $1.57 billion in equity funding and over $10 billion in debt financing. Its most recent raise included a $650 million secondary transaction in November. The company’s largest shareholder is Magnetar Capital, which holds 34.5% of Class A shares, followed by Fidelity (7.6%) and Nvidia (6%).

Future Outlook: A Solid Revenue Stream

CoreWeave’s long-term prospects look promising, with $15.1 billion in remaining performance obligations—contracts with an average term of four years. Major tech and AI giants, including Microsoft, IBM, Meta, Mistral AI, and Nvidia, are among its key clients.

CoreWeave will trade under the ticker symbol CRWV, with JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs leading the underwriting process. As AI-driven cloud computing continues to surge, all eyes will be on how CoreWeave performs in the public market.
