When chasing a dream in the entertainment world it is not an easy road. Especially when you take a risk and take a stab at it in the most competitive market of New York. Danika St Denis was willing to slice through it by her God given talents. She did just that and more. She studied devised theater and acting at York University in Toronto and musical theater at AMDA in New York City. In addition, she studied acting TV/Film with LA Acting Studios in Los Angeles and The Barrow Group in NYC.
“I’d say the most challenging part would be leaving my network of people in Canada. I have family, friends, and industry connections in Canada; but I have loved the connections and opportunities I have had here in New York that have allowed me to perform here and travel all around the US to perform as well!”
Danika would manage to connect with the company RWS Entertainment where she would perform as a lead singer / dancer. With the company she showcased her talent across the States in North Carolina, Kansas City, and San Jose. This experience offered her the opportunity to hone her skills even more. It was special to her since it enabled her to perform notable Christmas songs she always wished to.
Her skills were noticeable, and many took notice as she landed a major role in the Off-Broadway show “Chick Flix” which would end up being nominated for five awards by the Broadway World Off Broadway awards. It was an improv musical comedy where the audience was welcomed to interact with the actors. The performance took place at the The Players Theater.
“To say this show prepared me for every aspect of the industry would be an understatement. It really sharpened my skills in terms of songwriting and melody and harmony work which ultimately contributed to my journey of beginning to write music on my own. It sharpened my ear and forced me to think on my feet. Plus, it was fun! Audiences loved it. It truly did prepare me for my next venture of being contracted to write and release my own album!”
Danika took the stage in many other key performances with lead roles in shows like Veronica in God of Carnage at The Vino Theater in Brooklyn and Rachel in Together-Alone at The American Theater of Actors in Manhattan. Aside from acting Danika also has a deep passion for singing. She recently released two music videos “How’d You Learn To Lie Like That” and “Santa Tell Me” (which she performed live at California’s Great America). Danika is always open to singing all types of music be it traditional musical theatre style, pop, rock, country.
Currently, she came on board with Mars Management where she is contracted to write, release, and perform as lead a concept album with the working title being “Late Bloomer”. Even though she cannot disclose too much info on the project it will be released on Spotify and other musical platforms. For 2025, Danika has already locked in a lead roles with Sour Grapes Productions run by Genny Yosco performing at the Vino Theater in Brooklyn. In addition to that she has been booked by the Claire Mercier of Finding Claire-ity Productions to perform lead in her original works. Danika took her stab at the business and has made her mark in grand fashion with more to come.
