When Alex Trebek passed away last year, we were all devastated. The man was an iconic host on the popular gameshow Jeopardy. I can recall several times watching the show with my dad, trying to answer all the questions, knowing I did not even know more than 1 or 2 answers, but he was so entertaining to watch it made you want to try your hand at guessing. I was one of many who were devastated by this loss, but we still celebrate him when we watch an episode. In the wake of his death, the company began the hunt for another host, although we know they would have some big shoes to fill, could they find another host as great as Trebek? This has yet to be seen.
According to The Washington Post, Mike Richards, the recent game show host, has stepped down permanently. Unfortunately, past offensive comments saw the end of his job. The next replacements, on a temporary basis, are Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings. They will split the duties until the end of the year. Jeopardy seems to be having trouble locating a permanent host since they concluded the guest host trials, which saw fourteen hosts doing two weeks stints. Among those fourteen were fan favorites like Bialik, Aaron Rodgers, and LeVar Burton. I was definitely #teamLeVar. I though he would have made a great permanent host. Reading Rainbow is testament to that.
In the end, I truly hope Jeopardy can find “the one”. The memory of Trebek deserves to be honored in the best way possible. I believe Bialik and Jennings can do it justice until they can find a permanent replacement. My fingers will be crossed during these transitions. The company might want to revisit some of their past guest hosts to see if they missed “the one”. Now, I must go watch an old episode because I am feeling nostalgic.
Who do you think will make a great successor to Alex Trebek? Let us know down in the comments.
