Apple HomeView Starts at $299. The Model and Mount Are Separate Decisions.

Apple announced HomeView on October 13: a 7-inch smart-home display offered in tabletop and wall-mounted versions. Both cost $299 in the U.S., with preorders beginning on the announcement date and availability starting November 13, according to Apple’s release.

The headline price does not settle the wall-mounted setup cost. Apple lists separate Schneider Home mounts, with different prices and availability. Household-device requirements are another part of the decision: setup and multiuser support require a compatible iPhone or iPad running the latest software.

What Apple announced

HomeView combines a display, audio, FaceTime and smart-home controls. Apple says it recognizes up to six people and adapts each person’s Home Screen. Siri AI provides conversational responses, while personal-context functions use an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad.

Engadget’s announcement report and MacRumors also describe the two models and November launch. This is an announcement guide, not a hands-on review. Audio quality, recognition accuracy and long-term reliability have not been tested for this article.

Tabletop or wall-mounted?

The tabletop version has a domed speaker base and a hinge for changing the display angle. Apple lists silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray.

The wall-mounted version comes in space gray and silver. Apple says it offers the same display and feature set, with audio tuned for wall placement. That is Apple’s description, not a finding that the two versions sound identical in a room.

The useful distinction is placement. A countertop setup and a fixed wall position involve different installation choices, even when the display’s listed price is the same.

The mount prices to check

Apple lists the following U.S. mount prices separately from the $299 wall-mounted display:

  • Power Mount USB-C Wall Connector: From $59.95 (Orders from October 13)
  • Power Mount AC Wired: From $79.95 (Orders from October 13)
  • Power Mount PoE Wired: $129.95 (Early 2027)

These are announced product prices, not an installed checkout total. Taxes, labor and any required work have not been priced here. Do not assume the later PoE option is available at the November launch.

What to check before choosing

Decide where the display would go, which mounting approach fits that location, and whether the household has compatible devices for setup and personalized functions. Apple also says supported iCloud+ subscriptions and compatible cameras are required for the intelligent HomeKit Secure Video features described in its release.

No live stock, delivery estimate or completed checkout has been checked. The release provides launch terms, not a guarantee that every buyer can receive a unit on November 13.
