5 Morning Routine Activities That Aren’t Always Helpful

Many influencers take to posting rather incorrect content for monetary gain and the audience’s entertainment, and of the multiple varieties of content posted include suggestions for morning routines that are claimed to help you, supposedly being everyday activities of billionaires and extremely successful individuals. While many of these tips are somewhat helpful, albeit misleading and definitely not that helpful, there are some tips that are completely unhelpful for most individuals, and in some cases, actively harmful to anyone willing to try. Here are 5 morning routine things that aren’t the best for everyone looking for something new to add to their everyday schedule.

5 – A Morning Run

A quick morning run is great; in fact, it’s maybe what’s needed in a lot of people’s lives. The problem with a morning run as part of someone’s daily routine, is that not everyone has the time or ability to make time in their day for even this, being too busy to go for a full run every morning. Additionally, not everyone is physically capable of going running for extended periods of time, even for 10-15 minutes, and may have trouble with more intensive cardiovascular exercises, such as running. A more accurately helpful tip would be for one to exercise at their own pace.

4 – A Coffee a Day

The humble cup of coffee is something that many people enjoy, in a variety of shapes and forms. However, the modern coffee climate has pivoted more from a dark roast to help wake someone up, to a more addictive lineup of very sweet coffee-adjacent drinks piled high with cream and sugar. Especially for a large majority of daily-coffee enjoying Americans. These kinds of coffees are incredibly unhealthy, able to reach nearly a full meal’s worth of calories in a single cup. Even more uncertain for a daily routine is an increased caffeine count, which can cause heart problems for those especially sensitive to caffeine. Consider preparing a cup of decaf for the scent to help jumpstart your day, or have your coffee black.

3 – Morning Messages

It’s very tempting to immediately start looking at your phone when you get up in the morning. In fact, some very successful individuals, such as the former CEO of PepsiCo, Indra Nooyi, would wake up at 4 in the morning in order to check emails. However, while this may appear to be productive, it’s detrimental to overall productivity in the day, by serving as a major distraction that can disrupt the body’s natural sleep cycle. Taking a 1-hour break before using your phone in the mornings to promote productivity might be a better choice for you than waking up and checking your phone.

Skincare serums

2 – Skincare (Excessive)

Skincare routines are commonplace for a lot of middle-upper class citizens, and popularized with social media influencers, but there reaches a limit where it would prove detrimental. Influencers tend to glamorize the collecting of vast, unnecessary amounts of different kinds of products. Overusing beauty products, such as moisturizers and exfoliators, may have a significant effect on any applied area, making them more vulnerable to damage and/or increase irritation, or even drying out the skin even more. Always be mindful of the amount of any product you might be using to avoid any early unnecessary drawbacks.

Breakfast

1 – Breakfast the Wrong Way

One thing that’s quite important is breakfast, as the start of the day could determine how things go forward. Some recommend eating a big breakfast to promote hunger reduction and cravings, which could lead to energy levels crashing later in the day. Very few advise skipping breakfast entirely, leading one to become lethargic. And even the contents of breakfast are sometimes not given properly. A recommended breakfast of avocado toast may contain too much fat through the avocados for your daily diet. Sugary coffees may tend to lead to even worse crashes and are detrimental to your health, and tend to be promoted by influencers. Instead, consider your individual caloric needs and what’s convenient for you instead of changing on a dime to fit a new viral routine that’s supposedly better for you.
