Zoom Launches an AI-Powered Office Suite to Take On Google and Microsoft

Zoom AI-powered office suite with AI avatars and AI Docs Sheets Slides for entrepreneurs

Zoom Communications unveiled a new AI-powered office suite at Enterprise Connect 2026 in Las Vegas on March 10, entering the productivity software market long dominated by Google and Microsoft. The company announced AI Docs, AI Sheets, and AI Slides alongside photorealistic AI avatars that can represent users in video meetings, with the avatars slated to go live before the end of March 2026.

What Zoom Announced at Enterprise Connect

The centerpiece of Zoom’s announcement is a trio of AI-first productivity tools built directly into its platform. AI Docs, AI Sheets, and AI Slides allow users to generate documents, spreadsheets, and presentations from meeting transcripts and live conversations, without switching to a separate application. The tools are expected to launch as a preview in spring 2026 and will integrate with a range of third-party services through 10 new enterprise connectors, including Salesforce, ServiceNow, Box, Google Drive, and OneDrive.

Alongside the office suite, Zoom announced AI Companion 3.0, upgrading its AI assistant from a passive note-taker into an autonomous agent capable of triggering workflows across enterprise software systems. The company said AI Companion monthly active users tripled year-over-year in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026. Zoom also introduced a no-code AI agent builder, allowing employees without technical backgrounds to create custom AI agents for sales, IT, and marketing roles. For developers, Zoom launched Zoom AI Services, an API layer exposing transcription, translation, and image-processing capabilities to third-party builders.

The most striking announcement may be Zoom’s AI avatars. Photorealistic avatars designed to mimic a user’s appearance, expressions, and lip movements will begin rolling out to users before the end of March. They are intended to represent users in meetings when unavailable, and to work inside Zoom’s asynchronous video messaging product. The company also announced deepfake detection technology for meetings, which will alert participants if audio or video content appears to be synthetically generated. A live voice translator supporting five languages is launching as well, enabling real-time audio translation for multilingual teams.

Strong Financials Backing the Push

The announcements follow Zoom’s strongest AI-driven quarter. The company reported $1.247 billion in fourth quarter fiscal 2026 revenue, a 5.3% increase year-over-year, with enterprise revenue growing 7.1% and representing 61% of total sales. All of Zoom’s top 10 deals last quarter included paid AI components, and the company is projecting fiscal year 2027 revenue to exceed $5 billion.

Zoom’s strategy, which it calls a “system of action,” positions the company as an infrastructure layer rather than a standalone application, with AI agents capable of triggering workflows across the broader enterprise software stack. The productivity software market Zoom is entering generated more than $50 billion in annual revenue in 2025, led by Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. For context on where Zoom sits in the competitive landscape, earlier analysis raised questions about whether its lead in video conferencing was durable enough to support a broader platform push, a question these announcements are designed to answer.

Implications for Founders and Entrepreneurs

Zoom’s shift into productivity software has direct implications for the startup market. The no-code agent builder and developer APIs lower the barrier for building workflow automation products on top of Zoom’s infrastructure, opening potential new distribution channels for startups targeting enterprise productivity. Entrepreneurs who use Zoom as a primary communication platform can now access document creation, spreadsheet tools, and CRM-integrated agents without adopting an entirely different software suite. For founders already evaluating AI tools to run leaner operations, Zoom’s expanded platform represents a meaningful consolidation option.

The entrance of a major video platform into productivity software also adds competitive pressure on the broader market. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace have both invested heavily in AI features over the past two years, and Zoom’s direct competition is likely to accelerate pricing changes and feature development across all three platforms. Enterprise Connect 2026 continues through March 12 at Caesars Forum in Las Vegas.
