Q: How has your journey led you to where you are today? What’s your story?

A: The biggest part I’d say is really finding out who I am. It has been super fulfilling. My story began generations ago on a coffee farm in Nairobi, Kenya. However, shortly after graduating college, I was sitting at a job I hated and realized I wanted more out of life. I wanted to be my own boss and was tired of being told what to do in corporate America. As I was drinking coffee the idea hit me to sell coffee from my grandfather’s farm in Kenya here in the states. It had never been done before, so I decided to take a chance and here I am today.

Q: What are some of the biggest challenges you faced along the way, and how did you overcome them?

A: Some of my biggest challenges I’ve learned along the way were identifying my audience with my brand. When I first started, I didn’t know who to market to. I had no target demographic in sight. However, social media analytics has been a great tool in figuring that out. Also, when you put out a great product, people will truly purchase and come back again.

Q: What advice would you give to an entrepreneur looking to create their own company?

A: Take the chance and do it today. Don’t let fear hold you back another day. The worst thing that can happen is you let time pass and nothing has been accomplished. Do the work, find something that you are truly passionate about, and create. It will never be perfect, there’s no such thing. You will make mistakes, it will get tough, a lot of people will disappoint you, but never give up because following your dreams are steps to changing your life. It’s worth it!
