Who says Halloween 2020 is cancelled? COVID-19 has made social gatherings difficult this year, but there are still ways to get employees together and celebrate. From Zoom meetings to online costume contests, technology has made staying connected while practicing social distancing easy. Here are 5 ideas for a Halloween office party during COVID-19.
Zoom Halloween Costume Party

Change up your online happy hour by getting everyone together for a Zoom Halloween costume party. Just because you can’t see everyone in person doesn’t mean you can’t still dress up. You can even add a fun twist by only allowing your employees to make costumes using items from around the house. See who gets the most creative!
Scary Movie Netflix Party

Dim the lights and gather ’round your desktops for a scary movie night. Netflix Party is a third party Chrome extension that lets up to 50 watch a Netflix movie at once. All you have to do is select the movie you want to watch and send others a link so they can join the fun. It’s simple and a fun way to socialize outside of work. Halloween Decorating Contest

Ever heard of Room Rater? This Twitter account rates people’s Zoom and Skype backgrounds, so why not take inspiration from them and host a Halloween decorating contest? Have everyone join a Zoom call and show off their decorated space. Or go a step further and have your employees and coworkers scramble to decorate under a time limit by setting a countdown. Cast your votes on who has the best spooky background.
COVID-19 Masquerade Ball

Obviously, we only recommend this idea if you and your employees are still coming into the office and are practicing safety protocols. Everyone can wear an eye mask, just like a traditional masquerade ball, plus a face mask to ensure everyone’s safety during COVID-19. Then have everyone try and guess who is under each mask. Dancing can even be involved, as long as everyone stays six feet apart!
Send Candy Baskets

Of course, the best way to stay safe this Halloween is to practice social distancing. Instead of getting everyone together, show your employees you care by sending them candy baskets. Sites like Sugarwish allow users to send custom trick-or-treat candy boxes right to someone’s door. It might be tough not getting to see everyone in person for Halloween, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have a sweet time.
