With the huge number of cocktails out in the world, it’s not surprising that a few fall through the cracks. There are hidden gems in those lost cocktails, delicious drinks that everybody would probably enjoy. This week we’re focusing on The Pisco Sour.


Hailing from South America, the Pisco Sour’s creation is typically credited to Victor Morris. It is believed that he was inspired by a drink recipe in a Peruvian cookbook and combined it with his knowledge of sour cocktails. If you’re not familiar with Pisco, you’re not alone. Pisco is essentially an unaged brandy from South America. It’s made with leftover wine grapes and has a distinctive flavor.

  • 2 shots Pisco
  • 1 shot fresh lime juice
  • 1 shot sugar syrup (think 2:1 ratio)
  • 1/2 of an egg white
  • 1-2 drops Angostura Bitters
  1. Put ingredients in a shaker
  2. Do a dry shake (a shake without ice) for about 10 seconds. This is what creates the foam on top.
  3. Add ice and shake again
  4. Strain into a glass
  5. Add a few drops of bitters on top.
