With the huge number of cocktails out in the world, it’s not surprising that a few fall through the cracks. There are hidden gems in those lost cocktails, delicious drinks that everybody would probably enjoy. This week we’re focusing on The Americano
This drink was created in the 1860’s at Cafe Camparino in Italy. It was originally named “Milano-Torino,” but due to its popularity with ex-pats in the area, it was renamed. Today it’s a cocktail that everybody can enjoy (James Bond even savors one in Casino Royale!).
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 ounces of Campari
- 1 1/2 ounces of sweet vermouth
- Soda water
- Orange slices
Instructions:
- Fill a glass with ice (preferably a highball glass)
- Add Campari and vermouth
- Top the glass off with soda water (make sure not to exceed the 1:1:2 ratio though)
- Garnish with the orange slice
