With the huge number of cocktails out in the world, it’s not surprising that a few fall through the cracks. There are hidden gems in those lost cocktails, delicious drinks that everybody would probably enjoy. This week we’re focusing on The Alaska.

 

This simple 3 ingredient cocktail is colorful and fun. It was exceptionally popular in the 1910s and has a cult following among cocktail aficionados. Described as mellow, this yellow drink will catch eyes and please crowds.

 

Ingredients
  • 2 ounces of gin*
  • 1 ounce yellow Chartreuse
  • 2 dashes orange bitters

*If you’re into recreating past versions, Jacques Straub’s 1914 guide, Drinks, suggests using Old Tom Gin.

Directions
  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice
  2. Shake for 15 seconds
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe
