In 2018, Cardi B was receiving $70,000 per weekend at Coachella and said she was spending nearly $300,000 of her own money on her stage set, as reported by Consequence.

That gap between a booking fee and what a set costs to put on is the part headline numbers leave out. This page collects the Coachella pay figures that have been reported, says who reported them, and separates a fee from production costs and take-home pay. The figures are reports, not audited numbers.

This page includes reported figures, not confirmed contract terms. Coachella and its promoter, Goldenvoice, have not published artist fees in the sources reviewed here.

What has been reported about Coachella headliner pay?

Coachella does not publish what it pays artists. The figures below come from press reports that rely on insiders or on the artists themselves, so treat them as reported, not confirmed.

The best-sourced 2026 figure is Justin Bieber’s. Rolling Stone reported before the festival that Bieber worked “directly” with Goldenvoice, without an agent, and that an insider put his fee at north of $10 million for the two weekends, or $5 million per weekend. Billboard Canada repeated the report in September 2025 and added that Bieber was forfeiting an agency commission and that Goldenvoice’s parent company, AEG, has been his touring partner throughout his career.

Billboard Canada also said the reported figure would surpass the $8 million it cited for Beyoncé in 2018. Both numbers are reports, and the record claim depends on them.

Rolling Stone’s announcement coverage lists Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Karol G and Anyma as headliners. Fees for Carpenter and Karol G were not established by the sources reviewed here.

What did Rolling Stone and Billboard Canada report about Justin Bieber’s fee?

Both outlets attribute the number to an insider, and Rolling Stone said it was in line with previous payouts for a top-billed Coachella act. Billboard Canada said an insider claims the fee will be split evenly between the two weekends. Rolling Stone noted that a Goldenvoice representative had not immediately responded when it published.

The reports do not say what Bieber will spend on production or what he will keep after costs, so his take-home pay is not established by the sources reviewed here.

What do artists lower on the lineup earn?

Pay for artists below the headliners was not established by the sources reviewed here. This page previously gave pay ranges for each tier of the lineup. Those ranges did not trace to a source and have been removed.

One article, from Fluxus, illustrates the economics of a small slot with an imagined band offered a 2:30 PM set on the Mojave tent for a $15,000 fee. The article describes a hypothetical, not a documented booking. In it, the band faces a radius clause that bars shows within 1,200 miles of Indio between December 15 and May 1, a $50,000 minimum marketing spend and at least $30,000 in extra production. Those numbers are Fluxus’s assumptions, and this page has not verified them against Coachella’s contracts.

Fee, gross, production cost and take-home pay

  • Fee: the amount a promoter agrees to pay an artist to perform.
  • Gross: what the show brings in overall. A festival fee is one part of an artist’s income, not all of it.
  • Production cost: staging and visuals. Cardi B said she paid for her own stage set.
  • Take-home pay: what is left after costs, commissions and taxes. None of the sources reviewed here establish take-home pay for any 2026 Coachella artist.

In 2018 Cardi B said on SiriusXM that she was receiving $70,000 per weekend and putting her own money, “almost 300 thou”, into her stage set. Consequence reported the $300,000 and calculated a loss of about $160,000. Digital Music News quoted her manager as putting $600,000 into the stage across both weekends and calculated a larger deficit. The outlets’ totals differ and neither is an audited figure.

Does playing Coachella lift an artist’s streaming?

DataPunk Media tracked Spotify metrics for Anitta, Dominic Fike and Chappell Roan around their Coachella sets. For Roan’s 2024 appearance, it reports her daily streams rising from an average of 447,000 before the festival to 8.3 million during it, and her monthly listeners from 1.2 million to 45.6 million.

DataPunk’s figures for Roan are the most dramatic of the three artists it covered (Anitta, Dominic Fike, Chappell Roan), tied to a single release and a viral set. It does not show what a typical artist gains, and a rise in streams is not the same as a rise in income. The sources reviewed here do not establish booking-fee increases after Coachella.

What does the pay picture show about the music business?

The reported figures point in one direction: a few top acts command fees in the millions, while the economics for everyone else depend on costs the public numbers rarely show. That is an observation about the reports, not a measured finding. For other looks at how entertainers and athletes earn and invest, see how creators make money and how athletes invest their money. Sabrina Carpenter’s net worth page covers a different question from a festival fee.
