German chemical leader WACKER, in collaboration with Chinese specialty silane producer and joint-venture partner SICO Performance Material, has launched a state-of-the-art application development center for organofunctional silanes in Jining, China. This 2,300-square-meter facility is designed to accelerate innovation and development in high-performance additives for the plastics, coatings, and adhesives sectors.

The new technology center consolidates WACKER and SICO’s expertise, serving as a bridge between research, technical support, and production. By leveraging SICO’s production and scale-up resources, which are also located in Jining, the center is positioned to enable faster market introduction of new specialty silane products. The investment, totaling a mid-six-figure euro sum, underscores WACKER’s commitment to strengthening its presence in China and supporting the region’s increasing demand for high-margin specialty silanes.
